She happy to send a copy of the Sept 1903 issue. Hoping to see the Markhams on Wednesday night, wants to know if she should make arrangements at the Belleclaire. She adds at the end of the letter that she is leaving for Londaon and that you (Mrs. M I think she is refering to) is her fairy-god mother and that she gave her, her prince.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
